The\u00a0Los Angeles Auto Show<\/a>, a must-attend event for vehicle enthusiasts, is recognized as a showcase for automotive innovation, particularly in the field of electric cars. Once again this year, several models caused a sensation, confirming the rise of electrification in the automotive industry. Here\u2019s a list of 10 electric vehicles that stood out at the show for various reasons.<\/p>\n

Here are ten models that caught our attention for a variety of reasons. They are presented in no particular order.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Genesis GV70 electric<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The Genesis brand isn\u2019t even 10 years old, but it\u2019s already enjoying success. The GV70 SUV, launched in 2021, quickly became the brand\u2019s star performer, mainly because it operates in a fashionable segment: compact SUVs. For 2026, the model gets aesthetic and technological tweaks to be better than ever, notably with a gain in autonomy that should increase the latter to over 400 kilometres. The model inherits Tesla\u2019s NACS (North American Charging System) port, making charging easier for owners. An adapter for the CCS (Combined Charging System) sockets of home-built charging stations will be supplied.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hyundai Ioniq 9 2026<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Hyundai used the Los Angeles Auto Show to stage the worldwide launch of its Ioniq 9 SUV. The three-row model will debut in the first half of next year. More information is still to come, especially concerning the versions that will be reserved for Canada, but its battery will be larger than that of its EV9 cousin, and the model is aiming for a range of around 500 kilometres.<\/p>\n

Acura Performance EV Concept<\/h2>\n

Acura is offering its first all-electric model this year, the ZDX SUV, which was born in collaboration with General Motors. The company unveiled the Performance EV Concept earlier this year, a model that shows where the brand\u2019s design is going. The problem with Acura and its parent company, Honda, is that when we\u2019re shown a fly-on-the-wall concept, it rarely makes it to production. When a concept is destined for production, it already looks like the final product when we see it. This one remains to be seen.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Jeep Wagoneer S<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Jeep arrives with its first all-electric model in North America, the Wagoneer S SUV. The vehicle is elegant, and quality is present inside. The challenge is to convince the typical Jeep buyer to go electric. And there\u2019s that price that can\u2019t be dismissed. The vehicle will retail in Canada at around $90,000. We may see very little of it on the road. Power will tap at over 600 hp, while the range should be around 500 kilometres.<\/p>\n

Dodge Charger Daytona<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

December sees the official launch of the Dodge Charger Daytona. Frankly, its lines are magnificent, both inside and out. Dodge\u2019s big challenge will be to convince buyers who have been buying muscle and thundering V8 engines for ages. With an electric model, it won\u2019t be easy, even if the performance is there. Gasoline variants (3.0-liter turbocharged in-line 6-cylinder engine) should also see the light of day soon.<\/p>\n

Cadillac Escalade IQ<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Cadillac has already introduced a whole range of electric SUVs. Some, like the Lyriq, are already on the road. Many others will follow, including the Optiq, the Vistiq, and the electric version of the Escalade, the company\u2019s flagship model. Note that its name is so vital that Cadillac decided to keep it, only to add the letters IQ.<\/p>\n

Volkswagen ID.Buzz<\/h2>\n

This one is eagerly awaited. Here\u2019s another one that\u2019s been making the trade show parade for the past few years, but the time has finally come. Its official presentation for the North American market occurred last October and is about to hit dealerships. While the styling and colour scheme are appealing, and the driving experience is fun, the price is a bummer. At $77,000 for the rear-wheel drive version and around $83,000 for the all-wheel drive variant, Volkswagen will have its work cut out to convince enough Canadian buyers. More affordable base versions are expected later. But still, in the states, the base model is offered at around 60k.<\/p>\n

Subaru Solterra<\/h2>\n

This model isn\u2019t new, but it\u2019s still in the news. But why? The Solterra has been around for a long time, but the bZ4X\u2019s cousin is only now starting to become available through the Subaru dealer network. It was officially launched in Canada last October. For those looking for a different solution to Toyota\u2019s model, even if the product is the same, it\u2019s worth considering, especially as price and insurance-wise, the Subaru name could give you a few advantages.<\/p>\n

Kia PV5 WKNDR<\/h2>\n

In January 2024, at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, Kia presented a new division of all-electric vehicles, primarily aimed at the commercial world. The PV models capture the imagination with their highly futuristic design. Recently, the brand presented the PV5, the first model to be marketed, as a recreational vehicle concept, with a layout designed for weekends in the wild. With its adventurous styling and impressive wheels, let\u2019s just say the model caught everyone\u2019s attention in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
