18 EVs on display at the 2025 Montreal Auto Show

The  2025 Montreal Auto Show is over, but visitors who had the opportunity to drop in were more satisfied than in recent years as they felt that the event was slowly regaining its credentials. The return of several manufacturers was a significant factor in this, giving visitors the feeling of a « full » show.

There were more electric vehicles on show, due of course to the return of certain brands, but also because the range of vehicles on offer continues to grow across the industry.

18 electric vehicles presented at the Montreal Auto Show captured our attention, for different reasons. We present them to you in no particular order.

1 – Cadillac Optiq

Cadillac will soon have a full range of electric SUVs. The Optiq is due to debut soon and will be positioned as an entry-level model with a base price of between $60,000 and $65,000.

2 – Cadillac Escalade IQ

At the other end of the spectrum, fans of more ostentatiously styled models will soon be able to get their hands on the electric version of the Escalade SUV. Its price will be spicier at around $160,000. The product remains very important to the brand, as evidenced by the fact that it has kept its name with this switch to electrons.

3 – Hyundai Ioniq 9

Here’s a vehicle that’s likely to be a hit when it arrives, just like its cousin from Kia, the EV9. Introduced with great fanfare at the last Los Angeles Auto Show, the Ioniq 9 made its Canadian debut at the Montreal show. With a range of more than 500 kilometres and three rows, many families are already on the waiting list.

4 – Kia PV5

At the 2024 CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, Kia presented a new range of electric commercial vans called PV. The 5 will be the first to reach our roads, and visitors to Montreal had the opportunity to look at this very interesting and different product. What we see here is a modified version for off-road driving, recently presented by the brand to show what can be done with this vehicle.

5 – Dodge Charger Daytona

The first all-electric Dodge Charger Daytonas have arrived in Quebec, and their owners are waiting to discover them. While the move to an electric configuration is controversial for this model, which seduced many thanks to its V8 engines, its styling is far from controversial. One might even say it’s unanimously marvelled. Many admired its lines at the show.

6 – Jeep Wagoneer S

The Wagoneer S is Jeep’s first all-electric vehicle, but not its last, as this division of the Stellantis Group prepares a major offensive in this area. One thing’s for sure about this model: it puts forward an impressive inside and out styling. The first test drives are scheduled soon; we’ll know more shortly.

7 – Fiat 500

The Fiat 500 made a comeback last year in all-electric configuration. Its styling is appealing, but buyers aren’t rushing to it because the price remains high, the range is weak at 240 km and, above all, the Fiat name is a bit (a lot) burnt in Quebec. Let’s say there’s a lack of confidence. That said, the vehicle is fun to drive.

8 – Ford Mach-E Rallye

Last year, Ford launched the Rallye version of its Mach-E SUV. If you’re interested in the model and don’t mind paying a bit more, the approach here is different and engaging, with distinct styling, slightly raised ground clearance, and a rally mode that makes for real fun. Provided you’ve got the playing field for it, of course.

9 – Chevrolet Equinox EV

The Chevrolet Equinox was launched last summer and was an instant success. A beautiful product with a fine interior finish, space to spare, a range of over 500 km for the front-wheel drive model (459 km with all-wheel drive) and a base price under $50,000; what more can we ask for? We understand.

10 – GMC Sierra EV

With a range that can practically tickle 800 kilometres, the GMC Sierra EV and its cousin, the Chevrolet Silverado EV, deliver to pickup truck enthusiasts what they’ve wished for: plenty of range, considering that it’s always less when towing loads. It is an innovative product worth discovering.

11 – Hummer EV

What more can be said about the GMC Hummer EV, a road monster that serves only to demonstrate what the manufacturer is capable of. The styling is unique and eye-catching, but we’re not sure about real day-to-day utility, especially with a price tag in the stratosphere.

12 – Lucid Gravity

The Gravity SUV will be the second model launched by the Lucid Motors brand. The SUV was first shown at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2023 and launched late last year. Prepare to see it hit the roads in the next month or two.

13 – Lucid Air

The Gravity will join the Air sedan, which is truly impressive in every way. Lucid is slowly settling in here, so we’ll start seeing a few more models on the road. This luxury product has the merit of offering a range of over 830 kilometres, making it the industry champion.

14 – Volvo EX30

The Volvo EX30 is positioned at the beginning of Volvo’s electric range and is sure to appeal to a broad customer base. Its format is compact and reasonably priced for a luxury product, and the performance is there. And, it has to be said, its styling is irresistible.

15 – Volkswagen I.D.Buzz

Volkswagen’s I.D.Buzz officially made its debut last fall. Its styling is unanimous and eye-catching. Its interior layout is also interesting, and the possibilities seem endless with this model for those who wish to modify it. However, its price is a chiller for many, as at around $80,000 before fees and taxes, it’s not for the masses. More affordable versions will arrive next year, but they won’t be cheap either.

16 – Polestar 3

Polestar, Volvo’s all-electric division, presented two models in Montreal: the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4. Plenty of curious onlookers were at the brand’s booth, and the enthusiasm for the products was genuine. People love the style, the technology and the difference.

17 – Polestar 4

In the case of the Polestar 4, one thing is the talk of the town: the absence of a rear window. It’s a weird feature. It’s a digital rear-view mirror that shows the driver what’s going on in the rear thanks to a camera, which promises to be challenging during a winter snowstorm.

18 – Chevrolet Brightdrop EV

A few years ago, General Motors (GM) launched a series of commercial vans called Brightdrop. To facilitate distribution, GM decided to integrate them into the Chevrolet family. The example on display at the Show was a real eye-catcher.

An electrifying experience

The 2025 Montreal Auto Show successfully captured the attention of electric vehicle enthusiasts, showcasing a diverse and impressive array of models that highlight the industry’s ongoing evolution. With innovative designs, enhanced performance, and increasingly competitive ranges, these 18 vehicles reflect manufacturers’ commitment to meeting the needs of a growing audience seeking eco-friendly and high-performing solutions.

The strong comeback of the show, bolstered by greater brand participation, bodes well for future editions. One thing is certain: the electrification of the automotive market is just beginning, and these models are sure to keep turning heads on roads across Quebec and beyond.
