Over the next few years, car manufacturers will flood us with purely electric propositions. Already, the offer is starting to be interesting and diversified. It will only improve in the coming years. However, as of writing this, it's not yet the panacea. Several models are still expensive. Nonetheless, thanks to government rebates, which can reach $13,000 in Quebec, it brings the price of some creations to an interesting level.

And what about range, one of the most important criteria when deciding to buy an electric vehicle? Well, let's say that we have taken giant steps over the past five years; among the 10 electric cars offering the greatest range, the floor is around 400 kilometers. So, here's what awaits you if range is your number one criterion.

Tesla : Model S, Model X, Model Y and Model 3

First, you will need to look to Tesla to find the models that offer the most freedom. Specifically, in order, the Model S, Model X, the new Model Y, and then the Model 3 are positioned as the vehicles offering the most range. In their most performant form, we're talking about 629, 564, 509, and 518 kilometers of possible electric driving.

However, with Tesla, you need to be careful because there are different variants of each product, and they don't necessarily offer the same range. Some models focus on range, while others are focused on performance. Overall, however, Tesla still dominates in terms of range.

Mustang Mach-E, Taycan 4S and Polestar 2

Secondly, three new models are worth watching. First, the Mustang Mach-E SUV that will be coming to Ford in the coming months. Different versions will be offered, but at best, you can enjoy a version with 475 kilometers of range. Then, at Porsche, those with a more flexible budget can go for performance and range with the Taycan 4S which has a capacity of around 450 kilometers. Finally, watch for the Polestar 2, the second car to be born within Volvo's electric division. This one promises 442 kilometers in electric mode.

Bolt, Niro and Kona

Finally, in a third step, we end with a trio of models belonging to mass-market brands, namely Chevrolet, Hyundai, and Kia. On the Chevrolet side, the Bolt's capacity increased from 383 to 417 kilometers this year, which puts it above the fray in its category. At Hyundai, the popular Kona electric offers 415 kilometers of freedom, which is quite respectable. Then, just behind, the Niro from Kia has a capacity of 385 kilometers.

As you can see, the buyer is starting to have some choice. While some models sell for more than $100,000, we are starting to see interesting products under the $45,000 mark due to government rebates that are offered.
