Top 10 Recommended Electric Vehicles

The range of electric vehicles on offer throughout the industry continues to improve. As a result, the number of interesting models to buy is also growing. But which EVs are the most recommended? With an ever-growing range of vehicles on offer, it's only natural to ask the question in order to make the best possible choice.

To make things a little easier for you, we've done the research for you and today present 10 of the most recommended EVs. Please note that the models featured in this top 10 are presented in random order, and that the numbers 1 to 10 are used for illustrative purposes only.

1 — Cadillac Lyric

(Starting at $66,699)

If you're looking for a luxury SUV, consider the Cadillac Lyriq. This product, which benefits from General Motors' Ultium platform, offers around 500 km of range and an excellent bang for your buck in its segment, especially in its base configuration.

The level of comfort, the interior presentation, and the fun-to-drive factor are also top- notch with this SUV. Worth considering!

2 — Lexus RZ450e

(Starting at $64,900)

The Lexus RZ450e is a good choice in the same category, but its range is less impressive at 354 km. The ride is smooth and impeccable, as is the quality of construction and assembly. Aesthetically, the design remains distinctive and very Japanese, not unpleasant to the eye.

3 — Chevrolet Equinox EV

(Starting at $48,199)

When Chevrolet announced the electric version of the Equinox SUV, it promised a base version offered at around $35,000. It will take a lot of work to honour this promise. The starting prices of some versions have just been announced for Canada, and as you can see, the offer starts at just over $48,000. Entry-level variants will be added to the lineup later, resulting in a more affordable initial offer. It may not be at $35,000, though.

This model will offer a range of 459 km in all-wheel-drive configuration and over 500 km with the eventual front-wheel-drive variant.

4 — Genesis GV60

(Starting at $71,115)

In the luxury world, the GV60 presents itself as a more compact model but no less interesting. This vehicle offers crisp lines and a modern cabin that exudes luxury. The driving experience is fun, and the level of technology is impressive, starting with the possibility of accessing it with simple facial recognition.

We strongly recommend a test drive before making any decision.

5— Honda Prologue

(Starting at $59,990)

The Honda Prologue is about to hit the market. This vehicle, resulting from a collaboration with General Motors (Ultium platform), is stylish and offers a smooth and comfortable drive, even though its weight is impossible to hide. The range is just over 450 km, and only all-wheel-drive versions are available.

However, while the EX and EX-L versions are eligible for the $7,000 government rebate from Quebec when purchasing an electric vehicle, the Touring variant is not, as its price is over the $65,000 limit to qualify for the subsidy ($69,900 for the Touring model). We invite you to discover the current subsidies, which could give you an interesting boost.

6 — Hyundai Ioniq 5

(Starting at $54,999)

Korean manufacturers are very aggressive regarding electrification, offering several of the most exciting models on the market, as our ranking proves. The Ioniq 5 SUV is a beautifully designed model, offering a highly functional and spacious interior. And with a maximum range of 488 km, you can enjoy freedom on the road.

7 — Hyundai Ioniq 6

(Starting at $54,999)

The Ioniq 6 sedan is an interesting choice if you prefer cars over SUVs. Like the Ioniq 5, it has earned numerous awards throughout the automotive industry, including the AJAC (Automobile Journalists Association of Canada) Car of the Year award. In addition to offering breathtaking lines and a smooth, solid drive, it provides a range of 581 kilometres.

Be sure not to dismiss this car too quickly from your list of potential candidates.

8 — Kia EV9

(Starting at $59,995)

The  EV9 SUV is one of the most anticipated models due to its three-row configuration. These are still rare in the electric vehicle universe, which makes the chances of success for this model very high even though at the top of the range, the bill exceeds $80,000. The style is very catchy. As for the range, it is estimated at 480 km at best.

9 — Mini Cooper SE

(Starting at $48,190)

If you don't need a significant cargo volume and range is not an absolute priority for you, the Mini Cooper SE should be considered because it is hard to find better in terms of driving pleasure. This little one is charming and fun. However, its range only clocks in at 183 km, relegating its role to that of a city car. Again, it's not for everyone, but for those it suits, it is sure to charm.

10 — Nissan Ariya

(Starting at $52,998)

At Nissan, in addition to the LEAF, the Ariya SUV is sometimes forgotten when listing good all-electric choices. With a range of 348 km, it could be better in its class but is far from the worst. Its style is unique, outside and inside, where a genuinely stylized cocoon awaits you. On the road, the Ariya does not disappoint; to say the least, it impresses.

Let's not forget that our list of the most recommended EVs could have included several other interesting models. And that's a very good sign, because it means that the quality of the offering is slowly improving, and the available options are varied, while still performing well! So, which vehicles are on your list?
