Not so long ago, it was said that to attract customers to electric vehicles, everything was a question of autonomy. Well, it's starting to get really interesting because when we look at the industry, we realize that several vehicles offer more than what the customer demands.

And things are changing quickly. Consequently, let's take the time to take a snapshot of what the market is offering us this fall, while being aware that it will not be the same thing in the middle of 2022. Here are the top 10 electric car models for 2021-2022 in terms of autonomy.

10 electric cars 2021-2022 offering the most autonomy

A few years ago, the Lucid Air was still on the drawing board. Now, the first production models have hit the road, redefining autonomy standards.

Next up is Tesla's first SUV, the Model X. Once again, it is the Long Range version that offers more, unsurprisingly. It has a capacity of 360 miles, or 579 km.

4. Tesla Model 3

Moving on to another Tesla model, this time the Model 3 Long Range and its 353 miles, a total of 568 km when converted. It is by far the most popular model of the brand. Do we need to remind you that this is the best-selling electric car in history, a milestone reached in March of last year?

Mercedes-Benz comes to us with its first electric proposal, and it sits at the top of its range. The EQS sedan is an engineless version of the S-Class sedan. Its autonomy? 350 miles, or 563 km.

7. Rivian R1S

Rivian R1S

The Rivian R1S is an upcoming model, but it promises to be interesting, and its arrival is only a matter of time, as its cousin, the R1T truck, is already on the market. Both models benefit from the same mechanical components, so their autonomy is similar. In the case of the R1S SUV, we're looking at 316 miles, or 509 km.

8. Rivian R1T

Finally, the Polestar 2, from the Volvo group, ranks 10thth with a range of 265 miles, or 426 kilometers. This is just a bit more than many other generic models like the Bolt from Chevrolet, as well as the Hyundai Kona and Kia Niro.

Upcoming also are proposals from Hyundai and Kia, as well as those that will come from General Motors, notably.

In short, our chart will change rapidly in the coming weeks with regard to 2021-2022 electric cars and their range, and this will be to the great advantage of consumers!
