9 interesting EVs seen at the 2024 New York Auto Show

Car shows aren't what they used to be. Many manufacturers decide to pass, especially when they have nothing new to exhibit. However, we're beginning to feel a certain revival of interest among many manufacturers, as more and more decide to take part. In fact, some of them are very active! This is particularly true of the Korean brands, as you'll see in this article.

At the New York Auto Show, open to the public from March 29th to April 7th, several all-electric models are making their debut, while others are returning. Here are 9 that can't be missed.

Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Concept

Genesis, Hyundai's luxury brand, is wowing enthusiasts with several concept vehicles. The X Gran Belinetta coupe is a style study that gives us a glimpse of what future models from the brand might look like. This styling exercise also showcases the Magma approach (and colour) that the company has been showing for about a year, a shade that will become a theme throughout the range in terms of performance.

Genesis GV60 Magma Concept

In fact, this shade is again featured on this Magma version of the GV60 SUV. We're talking about a concept here, but it's obviously only for show, since a production Magma version of this model is not far off.

Genesis Neolun Concept

The other vehicle turning heads at the Genesis booth is the Neolun concept. The company doesn't have a full-size SUV in its lineup yet, but that could change with this model, which could be named GV90, once it reaches the production stage.

Volkswagen ID.Buzz

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz SUV is expected to arrive in North America towards the end of this year. Judging by people's reactions, it's hard to imagine a flop here if the price is right. This modern and electric version of the old Type 2 vans from the past is one of Volkswagen's best ideas in recent years.

Volkswagen Bus 1972

Speaking of old Volkswagen Type 2 buses, you can see one in part of actor Robert Downey Jr.'s personal collection displayed in the basement of the New York Auto Show. The models shown have been modified to be more energy-efficient, like this bus equipped with an all-electric motor. For those who noticed that this 1972 model bears a body from the first-generation (1950-1967), it was assembled and sold in Brazil until 1975.

Chevrolet Blazer EV Police

It's only a matter of time before police forces transition to all-electric fleets. It will be ideal for models tasked with covering shorter distances. This Chevrolet Blazer EV caught the attention of enthusiasts at the show.

Polestar 4

Polestar, Volvo's electric brand, unveiled its Polestar 4 in New York, a model designed to compete with a product like the Tesla Model Y. Considering the popularity of Tesla's representative, the task will be challenging, but also because we wonder who this Polestar 4 will appeal to, given its unique feature of having no rear window—a curious proposition. What do you think about this one?

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is well-known, and in 2025, an N version will be offered. Prepared by the brand's performance division, it promises to deliver thrills with its power announced at 641 horsepower. According to everyone who's gotten behind the wheel, this model is a beast. Handsome too.

Porsche Macan EV

Speaking of performance, Porsche's first electric SUV, the Macan EV, promises to meet expectations. Two versions will be offered initially: a base version offering 402 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque and a Macan Turbo variant, which will deliver 630 horsepower and 833 pound-feet of torque.
